Mexico was outraged when the state of Texas executed Humberto Leal Garcia last week for the rape and murder of a 16-year old girl.

Garcia, who was was born in Mexico, was brought to this country illegally at the age of two, and had lived here ever since. Mexico and the Obama administration argued that, as a Mexican national, Garcia’s rights were violated because he was not advised of his right to contact the Mexican consulate after his arrest.

Garcia’s supporters argued that if he had been allowed to talk with Mexican officials, they would have provided him with legal representation, and he might not have received the death penalty. The Obama administration, in trying to pressure Texas to halt the execution, said that the violation of a foreign national’s rights held “serious repercussions” for America’s relationship with other countries.

Okay, let me get this straight. This is the same crowd that argues that if an illegal alien breaks the law and brings their kid to this country, where they are educated in schools supported by American taxpayers, that child should be entitled to a college education and U.S. citizenship when they grow up.

However, if that same kid grows up and commits a crime and faces the death penalty, suddenly they are Mexican citizens, and that country wants them to receive the protections granted to foreigners under international law. How does that work out?

I’ve got an idea – if Mexico is so concerned about the rights of their “citizens,” the next time one of them gets into trouble in this country and Mexico objects to our form of punishment, we’ll send him back. But, if they want that “citizen” back, we get to send them all back with him! That’s fair, isn’t it?

20 Comments on No Problem, We’ll Send Him Back

  1. Steve F. says:

Right on! They want it both ways and to hell with the whats right or legal. I get so sick and tired of all this human rights crap. What about MY rights as an American citizen? What ever happened to them?

  2. Francis Callahan says:

I think we should round up all the illagles put them on a plane to gitmo and kick them out the front on to castro just like he dumped his low lifes and prisoners on us

  3. Palmsrv says:

You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions. Do you understand?
Anything you do say may be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand?
You have the right to consult an attorney before speaking to the police and to have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future. Do you understand?
If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. Do you understand?
If you decide to answer questions now without an attorney present you will still have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to an attorney. Do you understand?
Knowing and understanding your rights as I have explained them to you, are you willing to answer my questions without an attorney present?

Maybe it’s there and I just don’t see it?

If you are not a citizen of the United States please advise us and we will notify your foreign consulate for you.

  4. Janna says:

Absolutely right again Nick, let’s send them ALL back!

  5. Linda says:

More than fair, Nick. Every other country in the world has very strict immigration laws, why can’t we enforce ours? One reason is that if there is even a hint of the U.S. enforcing the laws Mexico raises a big stink. They WANT their poor people and criminals to go to the States so our citizens get to pay for their support, health care, education and/or incarceration. How many of their wealthy, educated people are sneaking across the border?

  6. Frank Serrao says:

Obama has made a complete mess of immigration and of everything else he touches. Lets hope we can get some “real change” in 2012 and take America back to common sense and living within our means instead of raising the debt ceiling so we can keep spending money we don’t have. We have got to stop them somewhere, why not here?

  7. Elaine & Mike says:

Once again Nick you hit it right on the head. I am all for gathering all the illegals and that included the dependents that were born here and ship them back to Mexico with our blessing. Then put our soldiers on the border to protect our rights.

  8. Steve says:

It is so easy to say “send them all back.”
Here is a news flash for you. That isn’t going to happen. Get over it and come up with some solution that is viable.
Obama didn’t cause this mess, yet so many blame him for all the ills of society.
Change? Read some commentary from pundits a century ago. Or even two centuries ago. Then comment about change.

  9. Dale says:

To Frank: As to raising the debt ceiling, republicans voted to do so 7 times during the Bush presidency. It was also during that time that taxes were lowered even while monetary output increased (e.g. 2 wars). It’s one thing not to like the president or agree with him, but let’s get facts correct.

Another fact: the Obama administration has deported more illegals in the first years of his administration than during the 8 years of the Bush presidency.

I agree that Mexico, and all foreign countries, should stay out of our internal affairs.

  10. Mike says:

The idea that “Next election we’ll get somebody in who will fix this problem and straighten out this country!” doesn’t seem to be working, does it? Those who blame the mess on Obama had 8 years of the other guys and everything just got worse, from immigration to the economy. It’s not getting any better now, other than we have a president who at least has a command of the English language.

If any improvement is ever to occur people need to get out of the Democrat vs Republican mind trap. They are both pretty much the same thing. What Eisenhower predicted and warned us about has come true in spades.

I have no solutions. There are none currently, outside of a genuine revolution by the citizens. I’d vote for Ron Paul if I could. And if he gets elected the interests that really run this country will shoot him. Really, they will . . . or he’ll die of Jack Ruby cancer or similar.

It’s still a ways off but this country is heading over a cliff at some point. Those who have chosen to be mobile have the best chance of some quality of life left after the crash.

So my 2 cents: Buy and RV and think independently.

  11. bucky says:

Right on Nick, I am so tired of this nonsense of illegals asking for every thing from the legal citizens of this country. We have them pouring accross our borders, and a bunch of liberials in this country telling us we have to give them citizenship and other benefits. They tell us we have to accept them, and their language… I was born here of legal citizens, yet rescently I spent 3 hours in the Michigan Secretary Of States Office trying to get a card, to allow me to come home after a brief visit to Canada, and it cost me $45.00 for the privledge….

  12. Harold Montgomery says:

So heres my problem with this scenario. They want the benefits of US citizenship when its convenient and they get something from it but want to be Mexicans when that suits therm. It cant work both ways.

And didn’t the Feds raise hell when Arizona wanted to ask if people were US citizens? So if the cops cant ask if you are a citizen of Mexico or US how can they give you your right to call the comnsulate?

  13. Melissa Tramone says:

Steve, I have to think that your house must be an absolute pigstye. After all, the way you look at life, when something gets dirty or messy, we can’t clean it up, we just have to live with it, right? Why make the effort to correct things, its too much work.

  14. Jim Landreth says:

Well folks lets look at the reality of the situation. The immigration policies will not change so long as the employers that benefit from the cheap labor are allowed to support the election of the the unethical worms that we send to Washington. It really boils down to it being a source of cheap and productive labor.

  15. Steve says:

Melissa, my Mexican housekeeper does a great job. No pigstye here. I just don’t believe simplistic knee-jerk proposals like “send them all back” are acceptable solutions to a complicated issue that desperately needs solving.

  16. Robert says:

There’s much more involved and at stake here than what happens to this sleazeball Humberto Garcia. I’m surprised Nick. You usually look deeper and give a more ‘fair and balanced’ appraisal of a situation. Anyone wanting the larger picture:

  17. Bill Daines says:

I’ve said it before Bad Nick for President, then all our problems can be corrected, Go Nick Go! :)

  18. Bill says:

Nice job keeping the pot of racism stirred. Take one egregious example and make it an indictment against all mexicans and immigration. Sure fire way of getting the bigots fired up. Can’t wait for your editorial on exporting all the catholic priests for child molestation.

  19. Frank Serrao says:

Dale: Has anybody told you that Bush is no longer President. You should know as an old Democrat once said that “the buck stops here”. In other words Obama has to begin taking responsibility for his actions. He is spending our tax money like a drunken sailor and it has to stop. Thank God for the Tea Party movement. Whatever other presidents did we are now beyond our limit and this wild spending has to stop NOW.

  20. Allan says:

You are right on Nick. The president has been talking out of both sides of his mouth. He is for amnesty for illegal immigrants. He also wants them to be recognized as citizens of their own country when it is more beneficial to them. He has not secured the borders of the USA and he has fought states that have tried to enforce security in within their own borders. Is he the only president that has not handled the immigration problem effectively? -NO. He is the leader of our country now however. Do we need a change now? -YES. Is this a racial issue?- NO. It is an immigration issue no matter what color the persons skin is. Are you a bigot simply because you want our border laws enforced? -NO. When it is time to elect a president again we need to look not just at the party but look at what kind of stand the person running for office of president will take on all issues. Do not vote for a person who will not take a firm stand on the issues. Vote for one that will also support the US Constitution and uphold its laws.
